Walking With God

This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God. Genesis 6:9

When I was just a sophomore in high school a classmate gave me a Bible. I had never read it except an occasional verse here and there. I didn’t know where to start so I began in Genesis. When I got to chapter six verse nine it was like the words jumped off the page to me. NOAH WALKED WITH GOD! I thought to myself: “If it is possible to walk with God, then that has to be the greatest experience on earth.” So began my quest for enlightenment and intimacy with God.

That was over thirty years ago. So what have I learned since? Several things:

• 1. It is possible to walk with God. It is not just for Bible characters, it is for all of us. We were created to be in relationship with God and I have experienced that first hand in miraculous ways.
• 2. I’ve learned that we walk with God rather than God walking with us. Oh He is always by our side and will never leave us or forsake us, but there is a difference. God is the initiator and we are the responders. We do not just ask God to come along with us as we do what we want. Rather, we follow His lead and let Him guide our path.
• 3. Walking with God makes everything in life more enjoyable. He puts the color and meaning into life.
• 4. Walking with God takes you further and higher than you could ever go on your own.



May you walk with God today and enjoy His spirit empowering your life. It’s really not that difficult either. Simply turn your heart to Him, surrender your will to Him, trust your future to Him. Once you acknowledge Him, you will begin to sense His presence more and more. Others will know that you have been with Jesus because the fragrance of Christ will be upon you!
