Unless the Lord builds the house

Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Psalm 127:1a

We all desire to make our lives count and to do something of value and purpose. We are searching for something that will make a difference. There is nothing more frustrating than to realize that all you have been working for has little or no eternal value. The definition of vanity describes this: empty, meaningless, futile. If we live our lives apart from God, we will have lived in vain. No matter what we build. No matter how many possessions, titles, or achievements we have, if God is not a part of it we will have been wasting our precious time and energy.

Many people have come to me over the years and expressed their sorrow and disappointment for having lived so many years seeking their own desires rather than the desires of God. I don’t want you to be one of those people. If that describes you, I don’t want to see you live in vain for one more day. Here are two questions to ponder today:

1. What are you building with your life?

2. Does it include God?

Make sure that you are teamed up with God today, and that you are living in tandem with Him. This will be sure to give true meaning, purpose, significance, and satisfaction to your heart. Make your life count! Build it with the Lord. You can do this by going in the direction you believe God wants you to go, and by including God in everything you do. May God bless you as you acknowledge Him and include Him today.

Today’s prayer thought: "Lord help me to make my life count by living in the light of eternity."

Keep looking up, Gary
