THE FRAGRANCE OF CHRIST

For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing. 2 Cor. 2:15

Each of us puts off a spirit, an ora, an energy about us. Its that intangible quality that radiates from the inside out. In this passage Paul the Apostle refers to it as a smell or fragrance. What a beautiful thought that we can exude the sweet presence of Jesus in this world. We have all probably done something wrong and said, “oh man, I stink.” But have you ever thought about the fact that when you are doings things right (or more importantly, doing things righteously), your life smells sweet? There is nothing more important or fulfilling in this world than to radiate and reflect the spirit of God. To allow Jesus to shine through our lives.

I bring this up because the other night God gave me a vision in the middle of the night. I was in a village in Sumatra about to go and read my Bible. I was not inside the church but outside it. I was viewing myself from the outside like and outer-body experience. I saw and felt that I was more like Jesus than I had ever been in my whole life. I saw and sensed this presence coming from me that was almost tangible. It was the Spirit and presence of God. As I looked upon myself I was filled with joy and peace knowing that I was doing what I was put on this earth to do: Walking with God and tell others how to do the same.

On this trip to Indonesia it is my great privilege and motivation to be the fragrance of Christ among the Indonesian people, to love them in Word and in deed. Nothing satisfies me more, whether it is at home or abroad.

I look forward to sharing my experiences with you as God takes me from place to place and person to person to be the sweet aroma of Jesus! May you do the same in your sphere of influence. Perhaps yesterday stunk, but today doesn’t have to. Let Jesus live through you!

Today’s prayer thought:

“Lord help me to be a sweet smelling aroma to those around me today.”

Keep looking up,
Pastor Gary
