The Believer’s Boldness

Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus… Heb. 10:19

During the Old Testament era, only the high priest could enter the Holiest place of the temple. Once a year on the Day of Atonement he would enter and provide cleansing for the sins of the people. If the priest was found to be sinful in God eyes,he would be struck down dead. Therefore, a rope was tied around the leg of the priest so he could be safely extracted from the Holiest place if he was found guilty.

However, when Jesus died upon the cross, the veil that separated the holiest place from the rest of the temple was torn in two. In fact it was torn from top to bottom. Not from bottom to top as if it was a work of man. But from top to bottom signifying it was the work of God Himself. Jesus, being the ultimate mediator made access for us into the very presence of God. There is now no wall or curtain of division to separate us from God. In fact, we are invited to come boldly into God’s presence. Not because of what we have done, but what Jesus has done for us. Not because of our righteousness, but His. This is why the gospel is called “good news”. Our relationship with God is based upon grace and not works. Therefore, it cannot be taken away. Nothing can separate us from the love of God! Our place in God’s family is secure.

This grace causes us to respond to God with acts of love and generosity. It causes us to have confidence and esteem. The Maker of the universe has invited us to approach Him with boldness because we know how much He loves and accepts us. Wow!

Let us take advantage of this gracious access into God’s presence. Through prayer, worship, meditation, and service, let us enter into the spirit of the Lord and fellowship with Him. This is why we were created. This is why we exist. This is our purpose. This is our privilege.

Today’s prayer thought:
“Lord help me to appreciate the access I have into Your presence and enter into it.”

Keep looking up,
Pastor Gary
