My help comes from You

I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2

Where do we go for help? Who do we turn to when times are tough? Although we can look to man to help us, the best help comes from God Himself. He is an ever-present help in time of need. In fact, one of the names for the Holy Spirit is the “Helper”. How comforting to know that God not only is able to help, but willing to help.

People can be helpful. God even uses people to bring us help. But there is a certain kind of help that only God can provide. The Lord provides a deep supernatural personal help. God helps in ways that no one else can. After all He is the Maker of heaven and earth. He knows how things work.

Sometimes God will allow us to go through trials, tests, tribulations, and temptations, so that we will look to Him. God knows we need Him even when we have forgotten. So lift your eyes up! Look to the Source of everything for your strength. You and God make the majority. If everything is right with Him, then everything is all right. So don’t look to God as a last resort, but as your first response. May you experience the peace that comes from looking to the Lord. May it be a sweet personal peace that is only shared between you and Him.

Today’s prayer thought:
“Lord, help me to look to You more than anyone or anything. I trust You can help me like no other.”

Keep looking up,
Pastor Gary
