Magnify The Lord

My soul magnifies the Lord. Luke 1:46

Glass can do strange things. Written on the side mirror of most cars is “Objects may appear closer than they are”. A magnifying glass makes things look larger than they really are. When we see through the lens of these objects, it changes the way we see the object itself.

To magnify is to enlarge. This was the very first thing Mary said when she praised God for choosing her to be the mother of the Messiah: “My soul magnifies the Lord”. It was Mary’s desire to exalt God in such a way that others could join in celebrating the greatness of God and could see God more clearly.

We have the same opportunity with our lives. Our lives are like a piece of glass that can affect the way God looks to others. Of course our actions don’t change who God is, but they can affect how others see Him. None of us are pure and we have all given a distorted view of God with our actions. But that doesn’t change the fact that we can also live in such a way that God is magnified.

There is no higher purpose in life that to magnify the Lord and make God look great. To live so that others can see Jesus more clearly through the glass of our lives, our sacrifice, and our faith.

Today’s prayer: “Lord forgive me for the times I have misrepresented You. I will strive to magnify You by my actions today because You are worthy of all my praise.”

Moving on Grace,
Pastor Gary
