Knowing God

Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight. And consider that this nation is Your people. Exodus 33:13

As Moses was spending time in prayer with God he made this request. HIS prayer was only to know the way of God. That is the mark of this great man. He desired to know the Lord. Not just His blessings, but to know Him. There is no greater reward than having intimate experience with God Himself. God is not just a means to an end, He is the end. He is the reward.

Jesus said, “This is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3). Eternal life does not begin when we die, but when we start to know God. For those of us who have put our faith in Jesus, we have already entered into eternal life. It is now our job and our joy to know Him more and more as His people.

Notice that Moses’ request is made on the basis of God’s grace. He appeals to God’s grace for a greater revelation of Him. Since we cannot deserve God, we must ask to know Him better because of His goodness not our goodness. May you hunger for more revelations of God. Don’t be satisfied with what the world has to offer. Nothing can replace God.

Today’s prayer: “Lord show me your ways that I may know You better.”

Keep looking up,
Pastor Gary
