Believing What
God Says

God has said, “you shall not eat it, nor touch it, lest you die”. Genesis 3:3

Man was created to be in a love relationship with God. God in His grace had given every tree in the garden for man’s enjoyment. There was only one tree they were not to partake of: The tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This tree represented a choice. There can be no real relationship without the choice to be in the relationship. God gave man an opportunity to disbelieve Him if they so chose.

Up to this point man had only known good. If they wanted to move out from under grace and trust in themselves and eat of the terrible tree they could. But God had warned that they would experience evil and death.

Satan misdirected man by targeting what God had said. God’s word is sure. But if Satan can get us to believe a lie rather than the truth of God’s word, that is his best means of defeating us. Notice how he did it.

FIRST: SATAN QUESTIONS WHAT GOD SAYS
Satan said to Eve, “Has God indeed said you shall not eat of it?” In other words, “Are you sure that is what God says? Questioning God’s word is the first step in the fall from grace.

SECOND: SATAN DENIES WHAT GOD SAYS
Satan said to Eve, “You will not surely die. God knows that in the day that you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like Him.” What a lie. First of all they were already like God. Created in His image and likeness. And Satan flat out promises that God cannot be trusted and that there is a better way than believing what He says. Of course, this lead to man’s ruin and the beginning of God’s plan of redemption.

Our part in our relationship with God is to simply believe. We are saved by grace through FAITH. So take God at His word. Believe what He says about everything including you. Your faith in God’s grace and God’s word will elevate you to the best life experience. Remember, all you have to do is believe what God says to live a God blessed life.

Today’s prayer: “Lord, help me to believe You everyday in every way.”

Merry Christmas!!
