The Accuser of The Brethren

Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, "Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.” Revelation 12:10

People tend to think that Satan is currently confined in hell. Actually that will not take place until a future time according to Revelation chapter twelve. Currently he walking about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). Not only does he have access to earth, but apparently to heaven as well.

So what is our enemy up to? What is his number one tactic? In one word...ACUSSATION. He tries to convince us and God, that we are not worthy of God’s goodness, that we deserve judgment instead of grace. No doubt you have felt this sense of condemnation. This voice that says, "You are not good enough, you are not acceptable in the sight of God and/or man.” Think about it; if Satan can get us to believe what he says about us rather than what God says about us, he has won. We are defeated before we even begin.

Yes we are sinners, and if we can chose to focus on our sin and weaknesses and allow shame, guilt, unworthiness, and condemnation to pull us down to Satan’s level. But that is not the heart of God. God wants to lift us up to His level and He does that through a combination of kindness and conviction. It is His kindness that leads us to repentance. Conviction is very different from condemnation. Conviction is intended to draws us to God and condemnation is away from God. We better know what voice we are listening to if we expect to head in the right direction and end up with the right destiny.

Let the grace of God draw you in, fill you up, and move you forward. You are accepted in the Beloved, a special treasure, highly valued, and greatly loved. God did not send His son into the world to condemn it but to save it. So the next time Satan reminds you of your past, remind him of his future. Listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and allow your life to be elevated for the glory of God.

Today’s prayer thought: "Lord, help me to rebuke the accusations of the enemy and confess your grace and goodness toward me. May my life be a reflection of Your heart and a celebration of your love."
