“LIVING THE LIFE OF YOUR DREAMS”

INTRODUCTION

My challenge to help you make the most of this ONE LIFE!

Today we are talking about “living the life of your dreams”

If we are going to make the most this one life, we have to find passion, excitement, and faith in what we are living for.

That what dreams offer us

Not my dream, but your dream

Turn in your Bibles to Acts 9

What is a dream?

a cherished aspiration, ambition, or ideal :

·      I fulfilled a childhood dream when I became champion

·      the girl of my dreams

·      they'd found their dream home.

Children dream.  They dream of being something

·      Fireman

·      Doctor

·      Missionary

·      Baseball player

They should be encouraged not discouraged

I want my children to be dreamers

I want my wife to be a dreamer

I am a dreamer!!!

But somewhere along the rough road of reality we can stop dreaming.  We can end up being “pushed by our problems instead led by our dreams”.

Joel 2:28 (NKJV)         “And it shall come to pass afterward

         That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;

Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,

Your old men shall dream dreams,

Your young men shall see visions.

One of the effects of being in the spirit is having a dream or vision to live for.

TS:  So the first thing we need to live the life of our dreams is to…

1.   UNLIMIT YOUR LIFE

You actions will follow your expectations

Matt. 9:29 (NIV)   “According to your faith will it be done to you”.

We often have a limited view of

         God

         Ourselves

         What is possible

Story of the frog in the well

“Doesn’t get any better than this”

Crawled to the top of the well and saw a pond

Thousand times bigger than the well

He went further and discovered a big lake

He kept going until he reached the ocean

Water as far as the eye could see

He realized how limited his thinking had been

The well was like a drop in the bucket compared to what was available

Don’t limit God, He is greater than you can even imagine

1Cor. 2:9 (NKJV)   But as it is written:

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,

Nor have entered into the heart of man

The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

God is not limited by anything

The only thing that limits God is out unbelief.

Take the limits off what God can do thru your life.

What dreams do for us

1.    They make life exciting

2.    They make life rewarding

3.    They give us direction

4.    They give us balance

5.    They help us say no

6.    They bring out the best in us

7.    They bring glory to God

What not having a dream does to us

1.   We end up settling for less than God’s best

2.   We flounder around aimlessly

3.   We lose the vibrancy of life

4.   We lose motivation

5.   We lose momentum

6.   We lose interest

7.   We lose hope

“A life without dreams
is like a garden without flowers.”

~ Author Unknown ~

New wine into old wineskins

Mark 2:22 (NKJV) And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”

Jesus was saying that you cannot have a larger life with a restricted attitude.

My limited vision of myself

My limited vision of the church

My limited vision of the building

My unlimited vision of the future

God had to un-limit my view of what is possible with God.

God had to get me off of my path, and onto His

TS:  I am not the only one.  In Acts 9 we see that is exactly what God had to do in the life of the Apostle Paul.

2.   DIVINE DREAMS

Acts 9:1-6

Prior to his conversion:  Acts 9

After his conversion Philippians 3:7-14

·      Know Christ

·      Be like Christ

·      Share Christ with others

Philippians 3:7-14

“press” means to diligently follow after

One of the most goal oriented people in the Bible is the apostle Paul.

What are your goals today?  What are you pressing after?

1Cor. 9:26 (NKJV) Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air.

Rom. 8:28 (NKJV)  And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Rom. 8:29 (NKJV) For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.

If this is your main goal, then God can bless your endeavors.

3John 2 (NKJV)   Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

Psa. 127:1 (NKJV)      Unless the LORD builds the house,

         They labor in vain who build it;

Phil. 2:13 (NKJV) for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

God has created you for a purpose.  God will give you a passion for that purpose, and that passion will become your dream.

Do you really want God’s best for your life, or are you willing to settle for what you accomplish on your own?

Get a divine dream and live it out

TS:  So let’s conclude talking about…

3.   LIVING THE DREAM

There are some people who live I a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and there are those who turn one into the other.”

“To not be living a dream is to be living a nightmare.”

What you need to fulfill your dreams

1.   Wrap your head around it

We have to conceive it on the inside before we can ever receive it on the outside.

If you can’t see it or imagine it, it is not going to happen.”

“If you can dream it, you can do it.”

                                             ~  Walt Disney

If you knew with absolute certainty that you could not fail in accomplishing your choice of three goals, what three goals would you set for yourself?

2.   Wrap your heart around it

It takes a consuming desire

All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them.

Why some people don’t dream

1.   They haven’t been encouraged to dream

2.   They nearsighted

3.   They don’t want to work toward it

4.   They think they don’t deserve a dream

5.   They are afraid of failure

3.   Wrap your hands around it

Write it down

Hab. 2:2 (NKJV)  Then the LORD answered me and said:

         “Write the vision

And make it plain on tablets,

Put it on the refrigerator

4.   Wrap your hooves around it

Show me your hooves

Put feet to your faith

Start walking by faith in the direction of your dreams

CONCLUSION

Shoot for the stars.  You may not reach them, but you will go higher than ever before.
